For the first time in more than 40 years, Las Marías has been displaced as the leading producer of yerba mate in Argentina. The Las Marias stable of brands include Taragüi, La Merced, Mañanita and Union. In January 2025 the Colonia Liebig Agricultural Cooperative, best known for its Playadito brand, surpassed it in terms of sales.
In the first month of the year, Playadito sold 4,892,240 kilos of yerba or 22.2% of the total placed in the domestic market, while Las Marías sold 4,050,891 kilos or 18.4% of the total. Between them these two producers from Corrientes account for more than 40% of the domestic market. The sales data comes from the National Institute of Yerba Mate (INYM).
